Happy New Year Family! New Year’s Eve is perhaps one of my favorite events! A night filled with fun, food, and the anticipation for midnight to arrive. For any special event we’re racking our brain over the perfect outfit.. Months ago, I would have purchased this Floor-length Sequin Maxi Skirt in the store, but it’s truly exhilarating to be able to make it myself! Pair it with a beautiful statement necklace and simple top, and I felt like Cinderella.

I stumbled across this fabric in my local fabric store at an impressive price. I purchased two yards. The waistband is 3/4″ wide elastic and I used hem tape rather than sewing the hem myself. Also, I installed a simple A-line polyester liner so that the sequins would not irritate my skin while wearing my maxi skirt. Make sure you’re wearing the high-heels you intend to wear for your special event when measuring what length you would like your skirt to be (I’m wearing 5 1/2″ platforms in this picture). Lastly, be cautious that sequins can damage your sewing machine or serger especially if your machine is not heavy duty; take your time when sewing.
