Tulle (netting), a lightweight, fine material that can be silk, cotton, or nylon is very common in decorations and clothing. I’m sure you’ve seen it before because tulle is most popularly used in ballet costumes, veils, and wedding gowns. However, as each Spring and Summer approach, tulle becomes more visible, mostly in part to wedding season. During this time of the year, tulle is prevalent in elaborate gowns, in particular the petticoat and veil. Tulle is also utilized in decorations, like centerpieces, or party favors. Of course everyone doesn’t participate in wedding season each year, but a common source of tulle that all women and young girls can partake in, are tulle dresses and skirts. Over the course of Spring/Summer 2016, I have had countless orders for tulle skirts and tutus probably because the possibilities of what you can create are infinite! Tulle is available in a wide array of colors, you [the designer] can make the tulle as full or as lose as you want, and it’s simple to cut & sew. I also love how whimsical and fairy tale-like the final result is! Any woman can feel like a princess with a little tulle around their waist.
