The Grammy Awards is by-far one of my favorite events to tune into each year for one reason; it celebrates my love of music and fashion! Last night, Monday, February 15th, CBS aired the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. Here is a list of my fashion faves, fashion no-no’s, fashion dares, and some “SEW-spiration” I received from several celebrities last night:
Fashion Faves:
Tori Kelly
One of my favorite vocalists and musician, Tori Kelly, was absolutely stunning in a vibrant, emerald green haltered gown! The fabric looks similar to, if not, neoprene, an amazing fabric to wear and work with because it’s thicker, stretchy, and hugs your figure perfectly. My only wish is that the gown was shorter in the front yet still trailing in the back. Tori Kelly is petite and the front of this gown isn’t height-flattering. I think showing a little shoe would’ve been perfect.

Chrissy Teigen
I couldn’t imagine a more flattering and trendy gown
than John Legend’s wife, model, and co-host of Spike’s Lip Sync Battle, Chrissy Teigen. Long silhouettes, winter white, neoprene, capes, sheer… it’s all trendy and is absolutely stunning on the mom-to-be!
Common
The men are no exception at this year’s Grammy Awards. While there were so many handsomely dressed men such as LL Cool J, DJ Khaled, and Sam Hunt, Common’s attire impressive. Each year I complain on my couch about how dull this man and that man is dressed and then I have to remind myself that there isn’t a huge variety of tuxedos. However, Common was able to catch my eye in his solid black tuxedo. The difference between Common and so many other men in black last night was that Common paired his solid black tuxedo with a diminutive Black and White Polka Dot lapel and matching shirt.
Fashion No-No’s
Pharrell
Where do I begin? This a hot mess *shaking my head* I fully support celebrities staying true to themselves at awards ceremonies and Pharrell is definitely a celebrity who marches to the beat of his own drum. Too bad he’s not as talented in the fashion department as he is producing musical hits. Let’s start from his head and work our way down: Sisqo is perhaps the only brother who can
rock blonde hair (I didn’t even like it on Chris Brown). Next, did Pharrell trade in a tuxedo for a woman’s blazer? Seriously. Also, if you’re going to rock jeans on the red carpet, is it life-threatening for them to not have rips, holes, and permanent marker on them? And the sneakers? Yeah, I’m exhausted. Pharrell wore so many fashion don’ts that I couldn’t pick anyone else to accompany him on this list.
Fashion Dares:
Zendaya
While I’m not saying this is a fashion “no-no”, I can’t say I’m a fan of it either. Zendaya is
becoming a household name. I mean, she has so much going for her even though she’s no longer Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel; modeling, the new spokeswoman for Covergirl cosmetics, a barbie named after her, and a new album!? Last night, Zendaya was possibly channeling David Bowie with a double-breasted pantsuit and mullet and if so then awesome, but if not, then I don’t know….
Lady Gaga
The phenomenal Lady Gaga was definitely giving a tribute to David Bowie in her red carpet appearance and performance last night! Lady Gaga has never been shy of controversial outfits and I must say, she hit this dead on the nail.
Ciara
Ciara has one of the BEST bodies in Hollywood and step aside J.Lo and Beyonce’, she was not afraid to flaunt it last night! I considered Ciara’s silk chiffon slip dress a “Fashion Dare” because it would definitely win “Most Naked” Award, but I’m also happy it wasn’t windy last night in Los Angeles.
“SEW-spiration”
There were only two celebrities last night who inspired me to take a trip to the fabric store: Taylor Swift and Adele. “Tay-Tay” wore an abs-barring bandeau top and high-waisted hot pink cut-away skirt. The bright hues made me anticipate spring’s arrival and the sheen made me reminiscent of satin. On the other hand, Adele wore an all-black embellished gown emphasizing her waist. While I’m not a fan of the color black, I do love long silhouettes, lace, and glitter.
